BUGCO Roach Control for the San Antonio Area

Roach Control Usually Starts with Exterior Treatment
Roach Control Usually Starts with Exterior Treatment

Roach control starts with identifying the kinds of roaches infesting your home or business. There are four common types of roaches around San Antonio, Texas. We have the American roach, the Oriental roach, the German roach, and the Asian roach. Three of these types are very easy to treat with regular pest control on a quarterly service.  Let our professional roach control program work for you!  Call us at 210-340-2847 today.

Oriental Roach Control

So let’s start with the Oriental roach. Oriental roaches are a dark brown, almost black color of roach with long antenna. They’re about one or two inches in length. They love moist areas, and they’re most commonly introduced to the home with fresh mulch or in mulch beds. Regular exterior pest control will get them under control. To note, Oriental roaches usually stay in and around the proximity of the mulch bed.

American Roach Control

Next would be the American cockroach. These are the most common roaches here in San Antonio. They’re the solid brown color roaches that are about one or two inches in length also. They are excellent fliers and tend to be found in and around homes that have heavy foliage. So good landscaping and regular exterior pest control will greatly limit the possibility of an infestation in your home. To note, American roaches fly over a hundred feet from their nesting site.

Asian Roach Control

Next, we’ve got the Asian cockroach. The Asian roach is most commonly mistaken for a German roach. The Asian roach is about one or two centimeters in length, being much smaller than the Oriental or American roach. The Asian roach also has a little brown Mohawk-type style strip on its head. They are excellent fliers, and they’re very much like the American roaches. They are found usually in and around homes with heavy foliage. Regular exterior pest control and yard treatments work best to control these and limit their interior sightings. To note, Asians can swarm in hundreds and travel as far as the wind carries them from their nesting site.

The Asian, Oriental and American roaches will usually gain access to homes through gaps around doors and windows.  They seem to sense the temperature difference between the inside of your home and the outside environment. That sense seems to help them find water, and they’re attracted to water.

German Roach Control

Now, lastly, the German cockroach. These are the worst. Much like the Asian roach, they are one to two centimeters in length. They also have the brown-shaped strip on their head, but they do not fly. Germans are brought in specifically through packages and people. These are the pests that require special services. They usually nest in cracks and crevices near water sources such as fridges, sinks and dishwashers. We almost always find them in kitchens in restaurants. Sanitation and cleanliness help to control these but will not be enough.

These guys reproduce rapidly. One female can lead to 10,000 descendants in a year. The other bad thing about these guys is that they are introduced, so a lifestyle change is usually needed as well as regular services and special services just to get them out. German roaches can cause respiratory diseases in children as well as spread diseases, and they usually stay within 10 to 20 feet from their nesting site.
